Royal warrant holder and award-winning luxury bedmaker, Hypnos, is celebrating its successful school tree planting programme, which has seen 1,100 trees donated since November 2014 and will donate another 200 in 2019.

The scheme, which is designed to offset carbon and educate youngsters about nature and the environment, is part of the company’s ongoing sustainable actions and commitment to reducing its carbon footprint. The business is the first carbon neutral bed maker in the world, Having held this prestigious title for the last eight years and the business has offset a total of 6,820 tonnes of CO2, including 736 tonnes in 2017/18 alone as part of these efforts.

The donation of these trees to local schools is an opportunity for the business to help youngsters learn about the importance of the environment, nature and the world around them. Working mainly with schools in the Princes Risborough and Castle Donnington areas, where the company has a significant presence, the bedmaker hopes the trees provide an interesting learning resource for the next generation of environmental ambassadors. Hypnos also hopes to encourage schools to make the most of their grounds by helping them to create interesting woodland habitats and increased biodiversity.

Chris Ward, Group Marketing Director from Hypnos, comments: “We are extremely proud of our tree planting initiative and this year we’ve have decided to step up the programme to highlight the importance of educating younger generations about the environment. As a key part of our wider sustainability strategy and ethical stance, the programme has been a big success, with over 1,100 new trees planted in the last five years alone. From the use of renewable natural resources and carbon offsetting programmes, to supporting local schools, the environment and sustainability is at the heart of everything we do.”

The tree planting programme also fits with Hypnos’ focus on sustainability and using environmentally friendly materials of the highest quality. By practising what it preaches, the firm ensures that timber in its divan bases is from managed forests and sustainable sources that comply with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) and The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC™).
