Taking place from 25th September – 1st October, this year’s Recycle Week theme is ‘It’s worth it’ and we are lending our voice to the campaign.

Established in 2004, the national recycling campaign takes place every year, aiming to help individuals, businesses and local authorities reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change. This year’s theme, ‘Recycling – it’s worth it’, aims to demonstrate the benefits of recycling items all around the home by showing what can happen to the items you recycle.

With this in mind, we are reminding the hospitality industry that even large items, such as the bed, can be recycled.

With 71% of consumers feeling it’s important that the companies they interact with act ethically and sustainably, it’s no surprise that hoteliers are increasingly finding that their customers are keen to understand not only the benefits of the beds they sleep on in terms of a great night’s sleep, but also their environmental credentials.

Research has shown that two thirds of travellers want to stay in green hotels, which only highlights the need for the hospitality industry to embrace recycling and move towards a more sustainable future.

Ethical bed production is at the core of Hypnos’ values and our sustainable credentials apply to our aftercare. We offer a full, hassle-free, disposal and recycling service for old beds, deconstructing them to create recycled raw materials for re-use in other industries.

Our team will go into each guest room, conveniently taking away each old bed to be de-constructed and turned into recycled materials for re-use in other industries. This responsible approach results in 100% landfill avoidance and offers a green and responsible way of disposing of old mattresses, beds and bedding.

Recycle Week is a great reminder that we as an industry have a responsibility to highlight the significance of recycling, and the services we offer to help achieve this.

As a multiple award-winner for its sustainable actions, and the only carbon neutral bed manufacturer in the UK, we take the environment and our social responsibility extremely seriously. We regularly undertake tree planting exercises with local schools, teaching the importance of protecting the environment, as well as carrying out educational school tours to teach young people about the benefits of a good night’s sleep.
