We’re celebrating after claiming the much-coveted Interiors Monthly Award for Sustainability in Furniture 2020. The accolade was awarded to us in recognition of our commitment to low carbon, ethical manufacturing.

The achievement comes hot on the heels of another prestigious honour, the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development, which we picked up in April for our tireless and continued commitment to ethical bed production.

As a multi-award winning company, we’ve been on a decade long sustainability journey which has seen us pioneer sustainable sleep solutions for hoteliers and clients who are increasingly hungry for products which are truly ethical.

It’s through constantly improving our sourcing of natural, sustainable, recyclable and traceable materials, that we have been able to shape and change the landscape of mattress design for the industry, creating comfort with integrity.

Richard Naylor, Sustainable Development Director, said: “Sustainable operations and manufacturing are the life blood of Hypnos. It runs through every area of the business and everything we do, whether that’s purchasing right through to the way our craftsmen operate, so it’s fantastic to have been recognised in this way.

“We pride ourselves on creating innovative and industry-leading achievements and awards such as this push us to work even harder when it comes to sustainability. It’s just one of the reasons why we were the world’s first carbon neutral bedmaker and it’s why all our mattresses use 100% natural and sustainable fibres, and no chemical-based foams, meaning they’re fully recyclable and contribute to the circular economy rather than ending up at landfill. And all of the timber used in our bed bases is sourced from sustainably managed forests and is FSC® and PEFC™ compliant too.”

Our environmental ethos stretches far beyond sustainable design, with a ‘lean and green’ operational culture which focuses on the minimisation of carbon emissions, energy and waste.
