PROTECT AND REGENERATE NATURE

We use an optimum combination of organic, natural and sustainable materials in our beds as we believe they offer the perfect balance of comfort and performance. Natural fibres are free of harmful and allergy-related chemicals - we do not use synthetic, chemical-based foams or memory foams in our Hypnos mattresses.

We’re proud to have a clear focus on low-carbon sustainable designs, with all Hypnos products designed to be durable with fibres that are biodegradable or can be repurposed, so our beds are recyclable at the end of their long lives.

Hypnos' workshops have achieved FSC® and PEFC forestry certification and we are committed to implementing and maintaining the chain of custody requirements in accordance with the required standards for our divans and headboards. Our mattresses have been free of chemical-based foams and have been 100% recyclable for over 12 years, and all new mattress designs also include a FR chemical free sleeping surface.

Sourcing Materials

Hypnos ensure materials and fibres are sourced responsibly, and where possible, tracing them back to their origins by working in partnership with farmers and certification bodies.

Since 2019, in a first for the bed industry, Hypnos has worked with Red Tractor’s assured farms to source completely traceable and certified British Wool. By working closely with these farmers through The Woolkeepers® initiative, we pay directly a fair price for the wool so they can invest in projects and innovations that improve their impact on the environment and communities. In 2022, Hypnos was the first ever brand to introduce certified wool to the globally recognised Responsible Wool Standard from British farms.

By buying cotton products from Hypnos, you’re supporting the Better Cotton farmers who care for the environment and respect workers’ rights and wellbeing.

A LEGACY OF POSITIVE ACTION

Over the last decade, we’ve undergone a comprehensive sustainability and decarbonisation journey which led to us becoming the first carbon neutral bedmaker in the world. In fact, we’re the only bed manufacturer to have held this prestigious title since 2011, having offset a total of 10,294 tonnes of CO2e, including 744 tonnes in 2020/21 alone.

From the use of renewable natural resources and carbon offsetting programmes, to collaborating with our partner the Eden Project to help support local charities, schools and community projects that together help tackle poverty, biodiversity loss, conservation and regeneration, our environmental and Force for Good strategies put nature, people and planet first.

Indeed, it’s sustainable and social actions such as this, paired with our long-held, ongoing ethical commitment, that has meant we’ve been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development.
