There’s not many companies that have held a Royal Warrant since 1929, but award-winning, sustainable British bed manufacturer, Hypnos Contract Beds, can proudly make that claim.

The fifth-generation family-run ethical company has been handcrafting luxury beds and mattresses for some of the finest homes, hotels and palaces across the world for more than 100 years.

Hypnos takes great pride in its Royal Warrant, which not only acts as a mark of excellence in British craftsmanship and design, but as a mark for sustainable excellence too.

It’s this prestigious standard which has always inspired Hypnos Contract Beds to strive for more and create innovative practises for the bed industry to follow. In fact, Hypnos Contract Beds is known for its pioneering sustainable actions, having perfected the art of crafting comfortable, foam-free, recyclable and sustainable mattresses and beds.

As the world’s first Carbon Neutral bed manufacturer and only bed manufacturer to have been certified for a decade, Hypnos Contract Beds led the industry change on carbon reduction and was recently awarded ‘The Planet Mark – Carbon Neutral Certification’ and a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development for its commitment to environmentally-friendly design and sourcing transparency.

In addition, they’ve also achieved the Global Recycled Standard which is given to companies who use recycled materials from socially and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes. Not only that, but by developing recyclable, carbon neutral eco-packaging that’s made from sugarcane, Hypnos Contract Beds has reduced its carbon footprint by almost four times the industry norm.

James Keen, Chief Executive Officer at Hypnos Contract Beds, comments: “We’re incredibly proud of our Royal Warrant status which is not just a mark of excellence, but something that retailers can trust.

“Indeed, our ongoing commitment to sustainability has meant we’ve successfully renewed our Royal Warrant and reinforced our reputation for sustainable design and it’s fair to say it’s pushed us to do even more.

“It’s one of the reasons why we’re always challenging ourselves and setting new ethical standards. Our partnership with Red Tractor is one such example of this, which sees us source traceable British wool from Red Tractor assured farms with high animal welfare and environmental standards. It’s also why we signed up to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales’ Terra Carta mission, which focuses on a sustainable future for businesses. The Royal Family have an incredible passion for the environment and sustainability and it’s a passion we share with them.”
