Fire Retardant Hotel Beds | Hypnos Contract Beds

Fire Retardant Hotel Beds

It is a legal and statutory obligation that all beds and sofa beds for hotels and hospitality properties must be engineered to 'contract specifications' and must have passed a series of British Standard fire safety ignition tests, often referred to as Source 5 or Crib 5.

The long lasting quality of all Hypnos contract beds and sofa beds are reinforced by compliance with UK Government Health and Safety legislation and Fire department requirements and composite tests – all Hypnos contract beds conform to BS 7177 (Medium Hazard) Ignition Source 5 (Crib 5) and all Hypnos contract sofa beds and Hypnos headboards to BS 7176 (Medium Hazard) Ignition Source 5 (Crib 5), which are amongst the strictest tests in the world. Hypnos works closely with the Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) to ensure that all products exceed the requirements for use in the hospitality industry. Source 7 (Crib 7) contract beds and sofa beds are also available.

If your beds and sofa beds are not Crib 5 compliant then there is also a risk that you will not be adequately covered by your insurance company in the event of fire.

Contract Upholstery Fabrics

All Hypnos' standard contract upholstery fabrics are Fire Retardant (FR) certified and meet a minimum abrasion resistance of 40,000 rubs (known as Martindale's) - ensuring maximum performance and durability. Customers can also supply their own fabric if it meets the same criteria AND is subject to composite or predictive FR test.

Should a customer wish to supply their 'customer own fabric' (COF) for our divans, headboards or sofa beds then please download our Fire Retardant Guidelines for Customers Own Fabric data sheet for further process guidelines.
